⭐ CSV Viewer Online - Explanation and Examples

The CSV Viewer opens a CSV file in your browser and shows it as a clean, readable table. Unlike a plain text editor, the online CSV viewer lines up every column, detects data types and lets you sort, search and explore the data without opening Excel or other spreadsheet software.

⭐ What Does This CSV Viewer Do?

  • Displays CSV data as a table with a sticky header and optional row numbers.
  • Auto-detects the delimiter: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe.
  • Correctly handles quoted values with commas, quotes and line breaks.
  • Shows a summary with the number of rows, columns and empty cells.
  • Detects column types (number, date, boolean, text) and shows them as badges.
  • Sorts by any column, with numeric and date aware sorting.
  • Searches all cells and highlights matches.
  • Lets you hide columns and page through large CSV files.
  • Shows column statistics: unique values, min, max, average and most frequent values.
  • Lets you select and copy single cells, ranges, one or more rows or one or more columns, ready to paste into Excel.
  • Copies the current view as CSV or exports it to HTML or JSON.

⚙️ How to View a CSV File

  1. Drag and drop a CSV file onto the upload area, click it to browse, or paste CSV text.
  2. The table appears instantly. Change the delimiter or header option if needed.
  3. Click a column name to sort it ascending, again for descending, and a third time to reset.
  4. Click the icon under a column name to see its statistics.
  5. Use the search box and the Columns menu to focus on the data you need.
  6. Click a cell or row number to select it, Shift+click to extend the selection and press Ctrl+C to copy.

🔎 Example: Viewing a CSV File

CSV input:

Product;Price;In stock;Added
Keyboard;49.95;yes;2025-01-10
Mouse;19.50;no;2025-02-03
"Monitor, 27 inch";249.00;yes;2025-03-15

Shown in the CSV viewer:

#Product AaPrice 123In stock ✓ boolAdded 📅 date
1Keyboard49.95yes2025-01-10
2Mouse19.50no2025-02-03
3Monitor, 27 inch249.00yes2025-03-15

The semicolon delimiter is detected automatically, the quoted value with a comma stays in one cell, and each column gets a type badge. Numbers are right-aligned so they are easy to compare.

🔎 Column Statistics

Click the info icon of the Price column in the example above and the CSV viewer shows: 3 filled cells, 0 empty cells, 3 unique values, minimum 19.5, maximum 249, sum 318.45 and average 106.15. This gives you a quick look at the data before you import it anywhere.

⚠️ Tips for Best Results

  • If all data ends up in a single column, choose the delimiter manually.
  • Rows with fewer or more cells than the header are reported with a warning. Missing cells are shown as empty (∅).
  • Turn on Wrap long text to read long notes or descriptions in full.
  • Choose a smaller page size for very large CSV files to keep the table responsive.
  • Exports include only the visible columns and the rows that match your search, in the current sort order.

⭐ Private, Browser-Based CSV Viewing

The CSV Viewer runs entirely in your browser. Your CSV file is never uploaded to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
